The only good reason for going fake is if you're going to destroy (not crack, destroy) your bumpers frequently, but need something flashy.
If you want it to actually look as good as possible, go with the real deal. Typically, the knockoffs won't fit as well as the genuine parts, though it varies a lot.

I haven't had one since like march.
except if the clock resets when I zombied it back together in June and drug it around until it wouldn't even stay on the car at drift showoff. I have ebay, so I can treat it like shit. oh shit a ziptie broke! go kick the other side until it breaks the other one and I can go drive more. Logan, This is the USA. Talk to any corvette owner, Cheap fiberglass = thin, can't scimp on the layers, gotta have 20 coats of gel so you can wetsand it for 4 weeks before barret jackson. |

I also find it comical that people refer to Origin and VS as "the real shit" like it totally doesn't come from china. If you mount ebay with scews it fits perfect, people just try to hang it with a ziptied and overloaded peice of aluminum and then womp when it sags. White Ebay kits are pretty nice, I've never gotten one that I couldn't clip on to the car and hold there. Blue stuff is jank, its probably where all the internet "they don't fit at all" crap comes from. Except if you get a kit in blue its probably Cwest/bomex/DrftR kit and you deserve it for making your car look like dick B-Magic stuff is pretty nice btw, Heavy weave Reinforced in spots that could rub tire, Tooling gelcoat, ect. The fenders don't flex as much so its harder to make them fit -/+ where they want to set. Too bad they don't make a cool looking kit any more. |

This question seems to crop up weekly.
Never buy copied $hit. Because it will always be $hit. Made by someone that copied a part that came from an original mold.... that likely came off of a master pattern. |

Somewhere down the line, the low class is affected. It might now be making the kits, but the other parts that make kits. Same thing happens with the Orange Juice business in the USA. Farms will hold immigrants by blackmale and have them work for free. /OT. Live and learn. |

Sad thing is, I've seen some of the FD body kits where the replica had a tighter fit than the real thing. Some replica makers actually are really good at their craft and do a replica off the real thing, which loses even less. A friend of mine has had some of the best fitting replicas I've ever seen, to the point where you can't even tell it was a replica unless you knew what to look for.
However, there are a few things you need to pay attention to when inquiring about replicas, depending on the material. Some of the Polyurethane replicas don't use high temperature resin, as it's quite expensive, so your bumper can warp over time. Fiberglass, as was mentions there's stronger and weaker fiberglasses out there, it all depends on what's used. However, as much as some people may balk at this statement: Signal auto in southern california actually makes some damn good fitting replicas. Also check out some companies such as BRS-Autodesign, AeroDuo, etc. Some good stuff can come out of those companies that I would buy their replicas over the real thing, as it's half the price and around 90% - 110% of the original. To summarize: Knock offs can be good if you buy them from the right place ![]() |

like I said before too though.... the more they use that mold, the worse it gets.
Molds arent cheap. mass produce a front bumper.... the first ones will probably be good, but then it is downhill from there. then when it fits like shit, you gotta send it back, then you get charged shipping, then they send a new one, charged shipping again, and so on and so forth.

it's a hit and miss with knockoff's really. I've had some fit like shit and some fit like a glove. To anyone wanting to buy a real kit your have greater chances of it fitting better with the real thing.

My $200 BN Kits have always fit incredibly well. The actual pieces aren't shorter or smaller or warped or anything. I don't see what the big deal is with everyone bashing knockoffs, they rock.

people are baching because... 1. it seems that it is either hit or miss with fitment/quality. 2. it fuckes over the people and companies that originally spent the t ime and money to design them.

In my opinion it balances itself out pretty well this way. There will always be people who buy the real thing because they have the money, and/or because they want the feeling of being better than everybody. If everyone had the real heat, it wouldn't be cool anymore and the OG's would start looking for something more exclusive again.

I always say knockoffs are like photocopies, it may be decent but it'll never be like an original. And the more you copy a kit without redoing the mold it's like making a photocopy of a photocopy, keeps getting progressively worse. But for some people its good enough. Whatever.

if you gonna track the car it dont matter. if it doesnt fit, make it fit good, it takes no experience and just takes some time and save some cash for things are important or towards a more baller paint
![]() you gonna wreck the kit anyhow. fuck it.

Also, some replica makers make some pretty good changes to the original design. Take Rotary Extreme for example. They were selling a 99 spec front end, without the license plate holder on the front bumper! It was so much cleaner looking, but it was just a slightly modified replica of an OEM Mazda front bumper on the 99 specs. Or a friend of mine made a copy of the STi GT style wing that was availible in Japan only, except he made it out of carbon fiber and was selling em for around $200 a pop. Or how about random fiberglass hoods shops make in different color weave of carbon fiber. They're all knock offs. Are they any better or worse than what you're describing? |
