Pedo bear (and friends) try to visit Canada

For anyone travelling up there, my little story.

I've got the "pedo bear is watching you" sticker on my drivers side, on the rear window of my S13. My friend and I made reservations at a nice hotel in downtown Vancouver, planning on getting drunk and hanging out with some girls I know up there.

Border guard at 9pm asks us basic stuff, then wants to know about the bear sticker. Randomly selected for a search, including my phone and laptop. Dude searching us explains they've had problems with people with 240's or pedo bear stickers, or maybe both. I read something the San Diego PD put out saying parents should be on the look-out for the sticker, as actual pedos may be using it to communicate with each other.

My ASS! What kind of dude would actually advertise that, its a joke, obviously.

In any case, my friend had a 5 year old shoplifting charge, which got us denied access, even though the charge had been dropped, the Canadians could only see the arrest report. We got searched again by US security, and 3.5 hours later got to drive home.


My buddy had beem up multiple times prior without incident, so the only reason he will now have an issue is because of the GD bear sticker.

If Hitler had started out as an internet meme, then became an actual murderer, I could see why it would be in poor taste. If there was a guy in a bear costume that had touched a bunch of Girl Scouts, got a ton of media coverage, and gpt the nickname Pedo Bear, again, I could see the poor taste.

But I fall into the camp of 99% of topics are open for whatever. Jokes, serious discussion, etc. If this does anything, it should heighten awareness and hopefully remove some irrational fear about actual pedos.

When the US security lady asked if there was anything in my car she wouldn't want to find, u replied "You mean something that Chris Hansen wouldn't approve of?". That seemed to make her smile, but she got really pissy after looking through everything. Maybe all the photos of me and my (of age) girlfriend.

There are plenty of peeps that think anyone on the offender list should be gassed or put on an island in the middle of the ocean. There's people on that list that got busted while they were 17 for dating a girl 25 months younger, trumped up charges by pissed off mothers, sexting pictures, all sorts of sh*t that shouldn't apply.

I've worked in social services with dudes that committed murder that were polite, nice and just trying to get back to normal, sometimes people just fuck up. There's a bunch of people on that list that deserve to be there, but all the mini-van moms giving me dirty looks cause I'm in the grocery store shopping for myself, that's retarded.

Personally im ambivelent about pedobear.
its not the first crass internet thing, and it wont be the last.

I always heard that PedoBear was originally designed as a mascot to encourage running and other activities to promote good health amongst youth in Japan... But due to linguistic and cultural misunderstandings, he was mistakenly named 'Pedo' (which means having to do with children) instead 'Podi' (which means having to do with FEET)...

Basically, its a case of bad Engrish, turned internet meme, turned rediculous media hysteria. Anyways... thats always what I heard.
