Leaky Injector
|
![]() So, I drove for maybe like 50-70 miles with no power steering fluid due to a leak. I fixed my leak and went for a drive tonight. I started off for the first few miles with power steering. When I got home, I had no power steering. However, the reservoir was still full?? Any idea what that means? Is my line just clogged somewhere? Or is the rack fried? Or pump fried?
Also, is there a proper way to 'bleed' the P/S fluid? |

Leaky Injector

Aw gay lol. And about my lines, they're stainless braided. LS1 swap.
Can someone tell me what the big 'ol nut on the back is for? Is there some sort of filter in there that may need to be cleaned off? |

Here is something to ponder:
GM Pumps run Power Steering Fluid Nissan racks use ATF ![]() (you can use ATF it's just fine) What FSM has a Fbody Engine, and a Nissan Rack? No, it won't.

Nissan seystems are often funny to bleed...some go easy, some don't.
Jack car up, turn wheel back and forth a bunch of times, but I like to 'stay/hang' on the steering stops a little bit to let it cycle. As before, some cars require 2 bleeds after ruptuing a line or splitting a seal. I know my car first hand ruptured the feed line on a track day...i had to fill it, bleed it...drive it around, come back and bleed it again before it go all of the shakeyness out of it.

if your rack was fried it would be leaking out the boots. but id try to just bleed it again. and if not then prolly a new pump since you already have new ss lines

how do you fry a rack?
you drain the rack by letting the fluid out of it... If you wanna get crazy pull it off the car and stand it up in a bucket fitting side down then cycle it lock to lock...then reinstall fill and follow bleeding instructions. |
