ka24de doesnt crank
i just rebuilt my 97 ka and put it in my coupe, i decided to try to jump the starter to see if the motor would crank. so i directly connected it to the battery and the starter would click and not turn the flywheel so i replaced the starter with my friends that i know 100% works and it still just clicks i also used a brand new optima red top. when i turn the motor over by hand while connecting the starter and it still doesnt crank it even though i can hear the starter whine, so i know its not in a bind. next i bypassed the harness completely with 2 wires and it still doesnt crank. does anyone know what the hell is causing it not to crank?

Have you tried cranking it by hand with the spark plugs (not that it matters) out? If you can't even hand crank it with no plugs then something is messed up internally.

Ok, go eat a bag of dicks then you lippy fuck. I'm trying to help you and you are just requoting your first post? Did you move to Texas from Florida by chance? I hope nobody else helps you and you sell your car to somebody more competent. By what you are describing it is binding but good luck with that. You obviously fucked up somewhere in your rebuild.

im only trying to get it to crank not start so the fuel lines and timing wouldnt really be an issue, ill check the grounds but since i bypassed the harness i dont think it should really make a difforance

kinda had the same issue. ground was the problem. I made a mistake and grounded the block to.... well.. the block again. sand those rusty grounds and make sure they are in the right location.

Are you 100 % sure your engine is not locked up or really tight from being freshly rebuilt ?
I would get a breaker bar and just remove the fan and get a large enough socket to fit on the crank pulley and just turn it over by hand.. See how it feels.. sometimes you can actually feel alot just by doing that like if its really tight or seized or if there is any excess friction.
