maybe you have it confused with BASIL?
basil is more common, but some places do offer mint (or at least its a spice that seems to resemble mint or spearmint). although I like basil in maybe other dishes, I don't put any or very little depending on the broth. most pho broth is already sweet. Cilantro can sometimes work very well, depending on your taste.

Playing with the spices/garnishes, and modifying the broth to a certain degree is part of the fun in eating pho.

i dont see how some people can eat it how it's served

i have a buddy that doesnt add ANYTHING

when i go to my local pho spot, i always add a little bit of chunky sriracha, smooth sriracha, and oyster sauce. i'm straight off the pepper paste.

toss in some green shit a few bean sprouts and good to go!

the stuff that dries up at the tip when people dont close it properly??

LOL. It has like big pieces of pepper and pepper seed in it. Tastes a little differnt too. I don't think it's actually sriracha.

I had pho a couple days ago. This thread makes me want some right now. I know there are a couple 24 hour pho places around here, I think in Westminster? I had pho at 2 in the morning. Awesome. =)

Isn't there a place called What The Pho? lol.
