I had a bug up my butt last week about the S550 5.0. If I sold my two Porsches I could go and buy one. What a nice thought. No project cars, fast great car right out of the box. But I can't get past the Euro snout and IRS. It really does drive and feel like a E46 M3 or 335i. The front really does look Austin Martin / Jaguar. Under normal circumstances these are HuGe complements. But for me - it just isn't that "feel" I keep missing from my SN95. That rowdy "muscle car" feel. I'm also pissed they changed the firing order on the 5.0. The old mod motors are some of the best sounding V8s in the world. New one sounds, generic. ![]() ![]() Miss that car. |

The rumors of Mustang GT350 starting at ~$48K make it sound like a bargain (IMO).
2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 to start at $47,870

i wish Ford would do something neat with the Ecoboost edition. I get that the V8 is the flagship, but i think it would be equally impressive to see them crank out a 400hp track edition of the ecoboost model.

There needs to be an Ecoboost 'Stang Tuner Shootout like Best Motoring International does... Throw in this year's and last year's stock 5.0 GTs to set the benchmark. Let 'em loose on Willow Springs and see what happens...

Proof Nissan has no fucking clue what they should be doing. The 370 is so long in the tooth for the industry its comical.

The 370z is such a weird placed car. It's price tag puts it into categories it cannot compete with in terms of power and performance.
Configurations Base Manual $29,990 Base Automatic $31,290 Sport Manual $33,570 Sport Automatic $34,870 Sport Tech Manual $37,070 Touring Manual $37,970 Sport Tech Automatic $38,370 Touring Automatic $39,270 NISMO Manual $41,990 NISMO Automatic $43,290 NISMO Tech Manual $45,490 NISMO Tech Automatic $46,790

Geezus Christ... Why is this rocket science to them? Create a new lightwieght platform that allows for 2+0, 2+2 & 4 door configurations just like the Z33, G35 coupe & sedan. I would love a sedan with the weight & size of the IS300, personally (with the 2+0 & 2+2 naturally being even lighter). Bore out the MR16DDT to 2.0t at 250hp-ish as the base engine and shrink VQ to a 3.0L single turbo with 370hp+. Reuse the 370z's transmission. Done. Whats the problem?

1970 240Z @ $3,600 = $21,952 today Mustang GT in 1970 was $3,190. = $19,455 today 1979 911T was $7,299 = $44,508 today Average Home 1970 $22,500 = $137,000 Today Average Home is $178,000 1970 510 was $2k, that's $12,195 today. A modern Sentra is $20k So, no the 240Z was never an "every-mans" car. It offered European styling and performance for far less. It was still more than a Muscle car and considerably more than typical economy cars of its time. You can't go off inflation alone for car prices. A 429 Boss Mustang was $4,100, that's $25,000 today. Modern equivalent is a $65,000 Shelby GT500. You can barley get a base V6 for $25k. |

Anyways, it's sad that Nissan is not doing what Ford is doing in which Ford's keeping their enthusiasts happy.

Ford has the volume and global appeal. The FieST and FocST are global cars with big markets. The Mustang is a global car and transcends basic iconic car culture domesticity. Nothing Nissan has EVER MADE comes close to matching the mystic, appeal and sentiment cars like the Mustang, Corvette and 911 create. |

Precisely why my recommendation spreads the development costs over 3 platforms in the same way Ghosn did when the 350Z & G35 twins were released. That was a great idea. I just want them to repeat that with lighter platform & offer either an I4 turbo or destroked VQ single turbo. I'm not into reinventing the wheel.

But why? There has to be a demand. The 350Z was what it was because of platform sharing. Hell, so is the 370Z. A $25k Mustang turbo is possible because it sells 100k units a year domestically. |

Interview with any representative from any automaker about anything: "Could. We could, it could, something could." "It is a possibility." "We may do that." "Perhaps in the future." "We have ideas." "At this time we would like to focus on..." "We want to do something different." In the end, anything said by anyone employed by an automaker has zero substance, and even if they claim to confirm anything, it can still change at any time until the vehicle is actually for sale at dealerships. No need for people to bother reading automotive media only to grasp at straws and speculate. |

Fact is Nissam fucked up in two major ways that lead to the current situation. One goes back to the 80's and the stupid decision to get rid of the world famous Datsun brand name in favor of Nissan. The other was instead staying truer to the origin of the Z they kept on making it bigger, heavier and to offset used larger engines with more HP as the answer. Now when Ghosn first came in he indeed tried to take the company back to some basics and actually succeeded in ways. We got the GTR back. He also did bring the Z back and while not quite true to the 240z it was better than the previous reiteration of Z and managed to give us the G35 as well due to platform sharing. These cars sold well too. Though now Ghosn is being typically Renault with Nissan and the thing is they are making money whether we like it or not. Though for Nissan to remain Nissan he does need to go.
