I'm totally out of my element in this thread but has anyone watched the new Voltron? It's pretty rad. I think it would appeal to a younger generation that might not have grown up watching the old one.

Also, anyone seen the new adult oriented Tranaformers animated show coming? Can't wait for that shit. Supposed to be in the vein of the animated movie.

you haven't done enough deep thinking about this. What Famous Japanese-American actress can you name that could have played the role of Motoko? There isn't any, there isn't any that would be a household name here in America.
It would be more insulting to japanese people if they got a random chinese or korean person to pay the role.

Not saying an Asian wouldn't portray it better , cuz they would. It just isn't a big deal, and in the market scheme of things, makes more sense to have a big name actress.

Never said anyone would refuse to watch it. Well, I will... But people want to relate to watch they're watching. People want to see characters that look like them instead of a world full of white folks. And you just reinforced my point, man. Star Wars and Avatar actually did have diverse casts and made billions because they were inclusive rather than exclusive. And fucking no body in those movies were HUGE stars prior to their release.

The GITS movie will bomb just like that Gods of Egypt garbage and for the same reasons, most likely. Alienating the core audience & not respecting the source material.
