Brake light won't go away

I accidentally tried to go in reverse with the parking brake all the way up. Now the little brake indicator light won't go away. So, I fuxor something real bad, or is it an easy fix? Doesn't seem like a huge problem, but the little light being on all the time is kinda annoying.

Might be just a short in the wire. Leaving your brake up and driving really just wears down your brakes crazy fast, unless your pads locked up on the rotors or something and the light is picking that up. Honestly though, if you havn't noticed it driving wierd, its prob just your brake light shorted out.

Are you sure your e-brake is going down all the way? Even if its just a hair up from where it is suppose to be, the light will light up as if its engaged.

yeah, pretty sure the lever goes all the way down. I even pushed down on it pretty hard just to make sure.

i had the same problem.... it was a short in my harness when i slapped it in reverse.. pop the hood, and look in the fuse box... there should b a 10 amp fuse for engine control....see if its blown... if its blown it would set ur brk lite to go on .. and if it is blown replace it, and put it in reverse.. back up and see if it blows again... if it blows again that mean u prolly have corrosion in the reverse harness and is shortin out... usually due to rott on the hatch from the spoiler... repair harness if u find it.. and should b good.. good luck

Check your brake fluid. The brake light also indicates low fluid.

I think it sounds like you might have bent the bracket where the indicator is when you pulled up too hard.

brake sensor

theres a button under the dash also for your brake pedal that recently broke on mine. I found little shars of plastic on my floorboard from a button that presses a sensor so that the brake light turns off with the car.

Hope this helps.

its most likely the parking brake switch.

they are cheap.
