- Hotel. Remember that reservations at the Holiday Inn (event hotel) need to be made before July 8 for the $79 rate.
- Traffic/Time. Please continue discussing ways to avoid traffic and arrive at the hotel on time. Where should we get off 101? By what time should we be at San Luis Obispo, Thousand Oaks? What routes should we take before/once we're in LA?
- 2-way radios. The cheap 14-channel FRS 2-way radios. If you have one, please bring one. If you don't have one, please buy or borrow one. If you have more than one, please bring more than one. We'll be using these to contact each other while driving together.

I tried making a reservation but the lady said there's no 240SX National Convention group listed. O_o Oh well. I'll try again tomorrow, and if I still get the same response, I'll just try looking for a nearby hotel.

I had no trouble making a reservation at Holiday Inn.  I'm wondering if you guys used the 800 number or the direct number (714-739-8500)?  I used the direct number and told them I was part of the 240sx National Convention.  All good!

The special rate for the Park Plaza is under the SpeedTrials USA rate, just tell them that you're attending a track event at Willow Springs. Ask for the "in house reservations" when you call 661-948-0961 That's the hotel's # not the main reservations office in who knows where.

Caravan info

The above link has the same stuff that I've been posting here. From now on I'll just update that page and mention it here.

Mike mentioned an interesting idea: driving to LA at night. Any comments on that idea? Why or why not?

I think that would definitely be more fun and faster, but we'd probably arrive too early to check in to our hotels. And by the time we leave for Speedzone, which would be 3 PM, we might be really tired.
Remember that the registration and payment due date is July 22.

I've put everyone into caravan groups. Jason was removed because he got in a car accident. We'll be having a meet on Sunday if anyone's interested.

A couple reminders: Please get a 14-channel FRS 2-way radio if you don't already have one. If you have an extra one (they're often sold in pairs), please let us know so someone who doesn't have one can borrow it. The following people need to register (unless the convention registration person made a mistake).

The consensus at our meet in SF yesterday was that taking I-5 to the National Convention would be a better idea than taking Hwy 101.

Cole is willing to drive up from Salinas to meet at Gilroy before we head over to I-5.

From now on I'll just update that page and mention it here. Mike mentioned an interesting idea: driving to LA at night. Any comments on that idea? Why or why not? I think that would definitely be more fun and faster, but we'd probably arrive too early to check in to our hotels. And by the time we leave for Speedzone, which would be 3 PM, we might be really tired. Remember that the registration and payment due date is July 22.

Cole is willing to drive up from Salinas to meet at Gilroy before we head over to I-5.
