There's a Momo finisher piece that you can get which screws onto the bottom of the knob. It has a ring on the bottom where you can slip the momo boot on and eliminate that gap.
Momo makes 2 universal boots. One is longer.
I had one on my Prelude because I couldn't bear with the gap. Got rid of the knob and boot, and replaced it with a Integra Type-R titanium shifter and factory leather boot with red stitching instead. It gets cold, but I don't drive the car in the winter anyways.
