i am almost ready to get my car going. i have been planning for months to go turbo KA.  but i am wondering how hard, more importantly(HOW MUCH) the swap would be to throw in a rb25 engine.  i figured id be spending close to 2500-3500, to turbo the ka while pushing about 210-230 to the wheels, until i rebuild the car over the winter.  i know the engine isnt cheap, but im wondering if the install is comparable to the sr in terms of effort. i know the rb has way more potential than the ka.  basically, im running on a budget of about 8g, im trying to get the fastest car i can for that money, minus about 2g for suspension, wheels.    if any one knows, insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot, matt

You can't build an rb25 for 6 g's (8g's - 2 for suspension right)

I have seen the engines for like 5g's and up, then the custom work etc. etc to make it happen... not worth it, and your budget won't make i. For the rb25 or 26 plan on 10-12 g's. and you can get the same power out of an sr or ka at that point, rb is only if you want to push 600+ hp. you just want a nice torquey i6 get the rb20, but parts are hard to come buy.

Actually, the RB20 and the RB25 are the same install, and it should not cost that much.  The blocks are the same.  You would need custom engine brackets, and an electric fan.  I am pretty sure that's it.  That's not all that bad.  Then you have to worry about hood clearance issues because of the intake manifold design.  That can be corrected by either getting rid of some of the hood skeleton, or moving/modifying the intake manifold to a short runner design.  The wiring harness can be a bitch , obviously, but I don't believe that it would be a whole lot different than an SR harness.  I've seen RB25's at a price of about 3500 quite often.  You might be able to source an RB from AU and get it much cheaper.
