Hole in the back of my block.... all bad *update with pics*

So I just put in my ka-t and when I was cranking it over I noticed a huge puddle of oil coming out from between the engine and tranny. after pulling the tranny and flywheel off I thought it was the main seal. Then, after turning the motor over by hand I realized it was a random hole in my block. It's about the size of a dime and is located at about 2 o'clock from the main seal. I have no clue what this is, but I need to cap it.. I see the hole in the fsm but it doesn't say anything about it.

HELP!

sucks to be you... did you buy this motor from someone, or is this one you built yourself?

i have a stock '95 ka in my room.

i took a look behind the block. i think i see what you're talking about. there is a dime sized hole, and it's plugged by some kind of metallic insert. doesn't look like there's any way to take the plug out from the outside. it sits slightly recessed.

sorry i can't help more than that.

If it's a freeze plug you can go to the dealership and order one and install it. Good luck and I hope that's what you're looking for.

The round brass things are the freeze plugs. Can you draw a arrow to the hole that's squirting out oil?

It should be threaded, it (the plug) is ''allen'' type, I can check tomarrow and tell you for sure on that.

They (Nissan) have to drill the oil passages somehow, right?

Did this block have machine work done to it? Maybe it was removed and they forgot to reinstall.

Call Joel at HRT Machine (contact info can be found on KA-T.org)...he'll set you straight, and get you a plug if needed.

For reference what it's supposed to look like with the plug in:

I would be worried as to why that plug came out. On a friend of mines ka-t, one of those plugs came out of the back of the head causing all of the coolant to shoot out and the engine overheated and warped the head; obviously the engine is dead now. So ask the previous owner as to why that plug was out of the block.
