My father and I did a head gasket job, after another mechanic ripped us off with a faulty job which almost cost us the engine. When we finished but it wouldn't start, so we took it to another shop to adjust the timing chain for us. It worked, and I was happy. A few days ago i was driving along and my engine shut off, without a noise. Being stuck on a highway in rush hour is never a pleasant experience, especially when your car is dead. My father later identified the cuplrit. The cam sproket bolt was not tightened correctly....

....It caused the cam sprocket to come off, drop halfway down the front cover, snag the timing chain causing to it shatter into pieces, and it cracked my camshaft. I can only imagine what damage occured that I don't know about....

It is unlikely the shop will take responsibility, and the conditions under which the repair was done(not to mention my lack of resources) makes it unlikely that I could take them to court. I am poor and this car has been nothing but a constant drain on my account. I am faced with repairing it, and facing other possible future problems, or buying another used car, which may be more of a burden than the lemon I already have and am familiar with.

Folks, I am open to suggestions.
Parts sources, TRUSTHWORTHY mechanics in the Miami area, Offers to buy...
...anything... (no sr swap comments please)
