![]() New here and hate to reask for info but i couldn't find what i was looking for.
I am looking for info on head design/config for SR20's. The only thing that i have been able to find is that the 14 and 15 engine's had variable timing. If this is the only change then cool, but the rumors are that the 15 head is better(you don't need lash killers, rocker stoppers) i believe that the 14 and 15 head is the same with a slightly better cam in the 15. This is just for my own knowledge so i can call bullshit when someone is spu-ing at the mouth. Known facts are 15's crank is lighter, different rings were used and it had a BB turbo. Any info will be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance |

You may also look into the S13 blacktop SR as well. There are very subtle differences between the blacktop and the S15, but you can easily adress the issues of the blacktop and have an engine that is just as reliable and much easier to work with.

That is all fine and well and no the bell housing aren't any diff. SR is SR.
![]() I need to know about the head. I have a s14 engine w/s15 crank aftermarket rods, pistons,HG,cams and springs, valves, rocker stoppers and ARP throughout. I am aware of the power potential of the 14 engine or any other SR for that matter. People here get a fortune for s14-15. i have bought red tops for as little as $100 and you can't touch black top for that. One of the selling points and key elements to getting more money for the 15 engine is that the head flows better and has less problems. 2 engines side by side one 14 the other 15 same Kilo's you are garrenteed to spend an extra $500 for the 15. |

even they have the same final drive between 5-6, by the time i hit 5 gear, the car has achieve higher speed then the 5 speed one, so i need less throttle/effort to get to 65 or whatever speed i desire (base on gas saving driving ie. shift at 3k rpm) ? i dunno about these stuff, correct me if im wrong ![]() |

And my friends who have s15's race them may it be drag,Togei, and drift. 310HP is extremely easy w/15's due to the Turbo and bigger injectors. They are very desirable due to its versatility and available power for min. amts of money. not to mention they are F#@kin sexy. |

S14 & 15 have a more restrictive port in the head than S13s have, however the intake design is better in a 14/15. The VTC severely limits your cam choices as well. The only REAL advantage on the 15 over a 14 is a slightly better turbo, mildly differnt cams & slightly bigger injectors. The 6-speed is NOT durable at all. Both the 14 & 15 have larger oil squirters than the red top 13 (blacktop 13 has the same as the 14 & 15) which supposedly help keep the pistons cooler under boost. I say go with a blacktop 13, easiest to work on & get parts for, cheaper than a 14 or 15, and usually in better shape than a redtop. My 2 cents.
