I am considering going to one of those car auctions, not ebay but the ones where you bid on the car right then and there, I don't know the correct term, but you know what I mean. Anyway, I am looking for a 240SX S13 or S14, but I would just like to know if any of you have had any experiences with them. I saw a commercial for one that has a 12 year 12,000 mile warranty on it, sounds good but thier might be some wierd trick to it. So if anyone has had any experiences with them could you please share your thoughts. Also if you live near Chicago and know where any are, could you give me a website or phone number or something.

Here in WV the only car auctions that we have are for dealers only. If you know a dealer you can get in them but if not you cant enter <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

The word you're looking for is public auto auction. I sorta have experience, I bought my car from a guy who bought it from a police auction 3 weeks previous. My car was an undercover cop car that was seized in 1996, and used til 2002. Doesnt change the fact that its still running like shit right now. eh good luck to ya.

From experience, go to a dealer only auction. I've been to the largest one in Canada (Milton), it has like over 4000 cars. Totally worthwhile experience. Bring along a licensed mechanic if you can. Helps when you're test-driving and he says "They're easy to fix." or "That can be fixed for less than $100". Sometimes you get a great deal, and other times, you won't meet a reserve. But test drive all the cars you want to bid on. Now you can't be there on bidding day, the dealer has to do that for you. Otherwise, they kick you out. And believe me, they do.
