spark plug question

i'm building a high comp ka24de and am trying to find out what heat range spark plugs i should get. hotter or colder?

general rule of thumb is whenever you run a higher power output than stock it increases combustion chamber temps, so you'd run a cooler plug.

yea run a colder plug man if you are looking to run a different range, try about 3 colder and see how that works out, also try searching what others are running for similar setups

Are you suggesting that he run plugs with a heat range of 8? Whatever you do, be sure to use ONLY NGK.

Actually you will be perfectly fine running 7.

7s are mostly used for Turbo and High Comp vehicles.

If you are going to push over 400hp with a Turbo or SuperCharger then you would go with 8+.

i agree, whatever you do, pleae use NGK. i made the mistake of running the cheap napa autolites....never again. NGK is the where its at for imports

I would start with one heat range colder and see if you have signs of detonation. Colder plugs won't perform as well and will foul quicker if they are too cold. You really only need to go colder to avoid detonation.
