check for continuity from your speedo to your cluster. for a kwik test run 2 wires directly into your cluster (you'll need a fsm) and see if that works if thats the case then there an open in your wires. i had the same problem. i can get you the colors of the wires from work  if need be. mine is a 89 so i dont know if the colors were the same.
