Hard or no start

alright well my car is incredibly hard to start when it is cold. it will just turn over and nothing will happen. If i spray a little carb cleaner in the intake it will sometimes start and i will have to work with the gas and keep it above 2500 or it will die, but sometimes it wont start and it will just popple a few times and then do nothing unless i spray more something in the intake, and other times i try like 10 times and i give up because nothing happens. if i can get it started, when it warms up alittle bit it is fine and idles perfect. my question is what would make it start this hard. I know it is like 25°F out but that shouldn't make it so it doesn't start. After the car is warm if i shut it off it fires right back up with no problem at all. Thanks for the help

It is a 1990 SOHC 5spd

Check the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator along with the vacuum lines running from the carbon cannister to the intake & the gas tank. It sounds like you have vapor lock but that shouldn't happen to your car.

For the times where your engine does not want to start, try pulling the spark plugs & verify that you are getting fuel in the combustion chamber. If you are, then check your EGR valve - make sure it is not sticking.
Try the aforementioned & see if it helps.
