I am selling my s13 around december and was wondering how much and how easy it is to switch from an auto to stick? The reason is around my area there are more auto then sticks alot more so i was thinking of doing this. I told my dad and he said its a bitch and it still wouldnt run good and there would be problems. Anyone help?

It can be done if you have the tools, the time, and the money. But easy doesn't belong in that sentence unless you were doing an SR swap at the same time. You're going to need a new trans, clutch (pedal and disc), clutch MC, fluids and then install it. Plus I'd be concerned buying a DIY auto to manual swapped car, and I doubt you're going to get more for the car just because of that (and probably not enough to cover the coats of the swap).

i am doing mine myself and i paid 800$ for all the parts inculding the tranny. i also only paid 1800 for my car so i figure if i sell for between 2000 and 3000 i guess i could cover my expenses. plus my 89 only has 60,000 miles on it which is a plus for a 13 year old car and the interior is mint so i figure that i could reasonably make my money back IF I wanted to sell it.

I'm going optimistic. I think it's pretty damn easy. Of course, 81 Accords are simple. Not that it wasn't a bitch fabricating the clutch assembly due to unforseen factory stamping methods. Only took me and hour to re-engineer it. If you have the time and a second vehicle to drive, go for it. Also, a lot of tools helps.

I didn't think it was too hard. I did mine on my first silvia and it was pretty simple. Just make sure you have everything you need first because realizing that you're missing something halfway through your swap is just going to straight piss you off. It sucks when you're all up in your car and all off a sudden you have to stop and run back out into a junkyard to find something

DIY? Can't u take it to Aamaco or the dealership <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> to get a swap done? Would any of you recommend a tranny swap compared to swap the engine and tranny.....note that tranny swap would be cheap and easier.
