thats not good. when the coolant gets hot it expands and needs some place to go. otherwise, excess pressure is gonna build up.

yea, so ive read. but as far as my questions are concerned?
does the reservoir need to be any certain capacity or volume?
is there a minimum or maximum amount of extra coolant that i should have?

"are the potential risks of just not having a reservoir at all?" besides pressure building up and popping the hose or shooting the bolt out through the engine killing me instantly.

if theres no way for the radiator to release pressure, it could burst. the hoses could burst. your cooling system would not be very efficient. i wouldn't worry about trying to make ur own. just get a hold of an OEM reservoir which is already properly sized and what not.

aww. no fun. thanks for all your info but im going to do it my way, stay close to the OEM resivor volume, mount the new tank somewhere out of the way and clean, and have the hose droop down past the radiator cap,thanks ladiesman8527, slownslurious, and Addicted2Kouki.
