s13 Steering rack safe?

i installed the hicas steering rack on my s13. i couldn't get the shaft that goes from the steering wheel to the rack to go in any deeper. Does this look right?? Should it be in deeper? I've been driving this way for a while and it does concern me.

HERES A BETTER PICTURE

It's not a problem of a leak. Well the steering does feel a bit funny but that can be a number of things.... my concern is the shaft. i don't think the shaft will come out but i wanted to have another opinion. here is a better pic so you know what i am talking about....does this look normal/safe?

Extend the shaft by clamping something around it and hammer it outwards. If you can't get it far enough out, install a thicker steering bushing into the column.

So you telling me it doesn't look safe? Or just that it can go in more. Replacing the bushing would be a PITA. The turbo and everything is on the car. i wasn't planning on taking any of that stuff off anytime soon. If its ok the way it is i don't want to bother with it however if its not safe i don't want to risk my life either.

If you got the bolt in, which it appears so, you're fine. The indent doesn't fully extend to the bottom of the shaft, and it can't pull out once tightened, so you're alright.

How about this how much of that shaft were you able to slide in? 1/2, 3/4, 1 inch?
The K-member and the steering shaft should'nt move in and out at all anyway
