timing trouble -help please

hey everyone -once again im having some issues putting the rest of the engine together. last night i finally got my sr head back from the machine shop and decide to mount in on along with my new cams (brian crower 264's).
im lost though when it comes to the timing, i put everything back on except for the cam gears because im trying to figure out where everything is supposed to line up. i couldnt keep the cam gears ziptied to the chain like i originally had planned because than i couldnt take the head off. so anyhow, now im stuck and lost as hell because i have no idea where to even start at. i did though set the #1 piston @ the dead top. alll help is welcomed and very much appreciated. -thanks

There should be Three silver links on the Timing chain the two closest links are for the cam gears there should be a dot on each cam gear so line the silver link up on the cam dots. but the thrid silver link I dont remember what marking on the crank it lines up on. But obliviously line the engine up to TDC, and for the CAS there are two dots close to the gear. one dot should be yellow or orange (if not it its the left dot I think) line the color dot up with the straight mark indention on the CAS Housing (theres a line on the shaft housing) Line it up, Engine TDC and slide it in.

A simple search yielded this:

http://www.frsport.com/How_To_Set_Cr...gine_t_25.html

or the best guide I've found yet assuming you can count to 20:

http://www.rs-enthalpy.com/ --> about halfway down the "Tuning Info" page titled simply enough, "SR Camshaft Alignment Procedure"

have set timing to this 3 or 4 times and ZERO issues!

its will save you a hell of alot of time to draw out the marks on the cam gears from the FSM and hold it up to the cams. it will save you days of fiddling oround with the gears.
