Everytime I take a right hand turn, my left front wheel bearing starts to hum. It has gotten a lot worse over the past couple of weeks so I figure I should get it fixed. I know that it has to be taken to a mechanic because they are pressed bearings and can't just be repacked. Anyway, my quesion is does anyone know how much this is going to cost? It shouldn't be to expensive, especially since I only need one replaced. Or should I get both replaced at the same time?

You might as well do both at the same time.  To bad that rarely involves a discount.

Has anyone else had to replace their front wheel bearings? I have an S14 the mechanic I just called said that the program he used didn't show a front wheel bearing and that I might have to buy the whole hub assembly! I can't imagine this being true, and I certainly hope it's not. Any help would be apreciated. Also, anyone know if they are solid or 2 piece bearings?

I ran into the same problem trying to find just the wheel bearings. I pressed mine out, took it to my local machine shop, they cross-referenced the number on the bearing, ordered it, and I got them 3 days later for $35 each.

he's right about that when i swapped to 5 lug the s14's are one peice, but i never tried to see if it could be replaced, just an fyi autozone can press out stuff for you for a fee so that would be alot cheaper than taking it to a mech

my advice diy!

i bought my 95 s14 hubs knuckle and spindle for 160 total found it thru www.car-part.com

Well, I got a quote from a mech for just one wheel bearing. It's over $300!!! I can't afford that right now, I am a starving student! Well, I guess I should contact some places like Auto Zone and see if they will do it. Thanks for the help.

I am moving down to SoCal for the school year tomarrow morning, anyone know somewhere that will press them down there?

Thanks
