I was sitting at a stoplight down the street from work and it's a long stoplight so i just started revving my engine listening to the exhaust sound (don't ask, i was bored). when i revved it to about 6100, the car jumped forward several inches. i didn't have my foot on the brake, that's how i noticed it.

this can't be right. what's the deal with this? anyone ever had this happen? it's like the clutch was barely engage for a split second.

well, I would suspect that the clutch is unhappy. If the car is rolling forward with the clutch depressed it one of two things. The clutch may need bled or adjusted, the adjuster is under the dash above the pedal...or the pressure plate has had it and is not disengaging the clutch completely.

Check your free play in the pedal, it should only have a 1-2mm of free play before it actuates the clutch.

Rev the car like you mentioned with the clutch in and in gear, try to pull the shifter out of gear. If it is difficult then the clutch is not disengaging completely.

BTW, why is the clutch in while you are stopped at a light? Your left foot should be on the dead pedal except when selecting a gear. Sitting at a light with the pedel depressed will wear out your throw out bearing among other things.
