Yikes, sounds like a spoiler rust/leak. Pull the carpet on the hatch and see what the underside of the hatch looks like.

assuming you have a hatch, this is a prob that like 75% of 240/180s have <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;usually the water comes in through one of the tail lights.. you can test by pouring a small cup of water through the gap tween the tailight plastic (on top) and the trunk's body metal, take off your interior cardboard/carpet stuff inside by the tail lights and watch for where the water gets it... then get a calking gun and some silicon sealant and go to town <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

If it persists, or you don't have time to deal with it right away, be sure to take out one of the drain plugs in the trunk, there's one in the spare tire well, I just left mine out.

I have the same problem..

I also notice that on rainy days, my passenger side rear seatbelt mount has a water infiltration. &nbsp;Could the sunroof drains be the cause of this?

true story, at the body shop i used to work at, they would have someone stay in the trunk of the car closed with a flash light, while someone on the outside would run a water hose.
in some situations you may have to start to take off a couple of interior panels.

If everything above fails, go ahead and by new rubber seals from nissan, or pickup after market ones, or if your really short on cash then go to a junk yard. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dozingoff.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dozingoff.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I bet I can solve that one &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
Do you have a "quirter" that sprays winshield wiper fluid on the back hatch? If you do, pull the interor dome light in the back. You should be able to see the wiper nozzle. Water gets in from there.
Get some silicome glue and seal it up.

Where is the drain plug in the spare tire well? Is it a bolt?
