Well, this problem i been having for a few months now. My car would not start maybe once every 2 weeks. The motor turns over and i smell fuel. when i come back to the car hours later it starts up like a charm like nothing happened. My car runs and idles perfectly when it is on but just on these rare occasions the car wont start and i dont know what the problem might be.

when it wont start you need to check the two basics, spark and fuel. If you've got neither one at that time then you know where to go.

I had this problem, but mine was in really cold weather. Turned out to be an old fuel pump that was freezing up. Got a walbro and no problems.
