why no auto to 5 speed writeups????
Im prolly gona get flamed but I just spent the last hour going thru auto to 5 speed "write ups" and did not find a single one that was detailed step by step.
They are just parts lists and a overview of what needs to be done.... I want to know the best possible way to do this swap with detailed instructions on a obdII s14 not just a brief description. I know they are out there.... plz help me find one. Thanks |

I am sure fueled performance or our local forum members (az240sx.org) can help you out with this situation.
I will be doing this soon to my girls' s14 obdII as she is getting annoyed with the auto. |

thanks guys....this is all the info I need.
I like how people say ohh go search google or go search another forum.... Why? Why not make this forum better and make the info a little more easy to access so people dont have to go from one forum to the next or spend hours piecing together little bits of info...? Either way I got what I posted for....thanks again for those that helped |

Reason I suggested an other forum/local was due to them actually being able to assist you in the swap or help with parts needed. So I was helping you out in that aspect, if you don't see it that way, then that is your right not to.
The main reason to why everyone informs you to search is that each and every post takes up server space and many choose to go the easy way out and ask and not look. As for piecing up info, is totally up to you and take it for what it's worth. Some if not many of the times that is what you have to do in some instances. That info might not all be on one page, or on one site/forum. Possibly even outdated on some forums and lost or deleted. On a side note glad you found what you are looking for. and good luck with the swap. Hey, why not do your own detailed write up so you and many other people who have the same question you had can have it answered as well. With pics and parts number list, etc. |

Good point, Edgar... The writeup we have here is not "hold your hands and comfort you in the middle of the night because there's monsters under your bed" in nature because it really isn't rocket surgery.

Agreed. If you know the difference between an automatic transmission and a manual one, you should have plenty of intellect to perform the swap without being spoonfed how to. There is no special hints, secrets, or tips that I can think of, just remove the auto parts, install the manual parts. It definitely is NOT rocket science, and does not need another thread where someone is bringing it up.

Some of us cant look at a car and know exactly what needs to be done and in what sequence.
With my luck trying to get into a 5 spd swap with that guide in the FAQ will end with me beating my car with a bat. I got what I asked for...lets just leave it at that. |

O and what level are you on? You obviously think you are some sort of 240 god.
To me thats just someone who has no life Just because someone needs more detailed info on how to do a 5 speed swap or more info to do anything on any car for that matter does not make them dumb as a lawn chair. I appreciate the fact the person is willing to learn and do the work themselves instead of being a lazy ass and paying someone else to do the work. And no you are not a 240 god... No matter what there will always be someone better than you in anything you can think of. |

240 5 spd swap
there are currently 2 different "kits" available on ebay for the swap:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWDVW and http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USDM-...spagenameZWDVW obviously these are different in price and what is included: they both include necessary components, but are not complete kits. i'm planning on doing the swap on my 93. i have the following: clutch pedal assy (you can find used, or junkyard) brake pedal assy (you can cut your pedal, but i opted to go to a junkyard) master cylinder (you can buy new oem, or junkyard) slave cylinder (you can buy new oem, or junkyard) clutch line (i almost shit myself when i found this beautiful piece from agency power and bought it without a flinch) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Agenc...1163QQtcZphoto on the AT 240sx chassis, there are already provisions for the clutch pedal bolts/studs and the master cylinder. you smiply need to drill these. you CANNOT reuse your AT driveshaft, and i'm not sure if you can use the AT speedo sensor on your MT gearbox. mind you that all of the information i provided is assuming you are doing an SR20DET swap like myself. i gathered this information from the various forums found using google, plus i looked at a front clip, and saw with my own eyes the provisions for the clutch pedal on my AT chassis. |

... but he needed comfort that there were not a group of big guys waiting to rape him in the ass as he left his apartment for school on Monday morning. Or the equivalent, housed in a step by fucking step writeup. He ignored that Russ (R240NA) just happens to be the most knowledgeable 240SX driver/owner/enthusiast that any of us could ever get used to getting 3am drunken text/voice messages from. He also ignored the fact that Zilvia often teaches through the magic of "tough fuckin' love," where the question-asker is hazed into finding the answer instead of answering it, kinda like a female dog will be mean to her own pups to get them on solid food... Odd metaphor, I know, but those that get it get it. No worries, I neg repped him for being a douche, but he was not responding to you. |

gawd....can we just let this thread die now?
I was thinking about making a write-up (simliar to that of my kouki conversion)..but its really straight forward once you have the parts, tools and car right in front of you. The only info that is not straight forward is the wiring, but lucky that has been documented.

P.S. to AZ 240 I wrote that auto to 5 speed faq here and hundreds of people have actually done the swap from reading it. I have never had a whiny message saying I can't do it or I don't understand. Yes you seem to need your hand held , yes at least you admit it. Though its time to grow up son. If you do not have the mechanical knowledge to the swap based off my faq you should not even be getting near working on your own car. So either take a auto tech course or get someone else to work on your car and stfu. mods please lock this dumb ass thread.
