the problem with grundy or hagerty (or maybe both, my memory is a bit fuzzy), is that you are not allowed to drive your car to work, ever.

my dad thought he was gonna be in a cool mid life crisis thing so he bought a few classic restored cars

he got the antique vehicle insurance or whatever through hagerty and the only catch is that you really cant daily drive the car thats insured.

Thats what I meant with restrictions, those are 1 of many. Sorry but I don't wanna feel like I cant drive my car and I have to read the fine print before I go out grocery shopping, etc. Theres usually alot of anal under the surface requirements

The 6 month restriction with metga is fine with me because I live in new england it will not be driven in the snow and salt. Thats the only one I can see being a problem with some people. It might be just because its new england too.

Alright since I actually have a few policies with Hagerty insurance here is the deal

There are NO mileage limits.

Your car cannot be your daily driver. (although it can be the only car you own if you can prove that you have a company vehicle that is your daily driver)

Must be over 22 years old.

Insurance is void if the car is wrecked at the track.

Value can be appraised or declared.

Pretty simple stuff.

You forgot the locked garage part (carport, driveway, etc is a no cover)

And IIRC dd or not I think your not allowed to EVER drive it to your work. gonna be a nice day? too bad.

From the web
Quote:
# Usage. Hagerty provides coverage for vehicles that are used on an occasional basis -- e.g. club functions, exhibitions, organized meets, tours and limited pleasure driving.
# Storage. Collector vehicles must be stored in a fully enclosed, locked garage when not in use.
# Driving records. Generally, one or two minor traffic violations or accidents are acceptable. We are not able to insure those who have experienced major infractions such as a DUI, reckless driving or excessive speed violations within the past 3-6 years.* All household driving records are subject to review by an underwriter.
Quote:
Hagerty does not offer an insurance product for:

* Inexpensive home-built kits that do not replicate a classic vehicle
* Replicas of the 1963-67 Shelby Cobra Roadster
* Any vehicles used for camping, off-road or utility-type driving
* Pro-street vehicles modified exclusively with racing features such as roll cages, wheelie caster, nitrous systems, parachutes, etc. (Consideration may be given to show-use only vehicles)
Looks like your out if you have a cage or a baby bottle.

If you call them and probe for awhile a little more fine print gets introduced

Too bad Grundy, Haggerty, etc won't insure a 240. I've tried with both and they denied me because the car does not have collectable status.
