It all depends on what you plan to do.

like 50/50 track daily etc.

It could be a large variable.

f'd up roads (like dips/potholes/etc) don't really change the spring rates you want to run, just the ride height. If you commute along bumpy roads you might want to think about some softer springs, but honestly the difference between 8/6 and 12/10 isn't as big as you think when you're DD'n... they're both going to be uncomfortable and noisy if you're commuting over shit roads. The difference will be how stable the car is in the canyons/on the track (12/10 is too stiff for canyons, btw).

I run my Tanabe Sustec Pro Sevens with their 10/8 springs, and love the feel when DD'n the car. Correct valving (with TONS of adjustment) makes it comfortable enough, and the slightly stiffer springs help the car handle well when taking freeway sweepers/changing lanes in a spirited fashion over freeway bumps/etc.

You did not leave us with much information to help you out, if that was what you were looking for.

It seems more like you are interested in damping features. Something along the lines of smooth & Comfy to stiff & harsh.

Plus what is your budget exactly? How did you like the feel of your last coilovers, and which were they?

I run megan track coilovers. 12/10, but I think they are not as stiff as most 12/10 setups out there, but overall I don't mind the feel. It is my daily driver in the bayarea.

If you have a coilover with good and proper valing I would agree with Aaron on the 9/7 max 10/8for drifting and some street.

I like 8/6 for my apps because with a peekier powerband or larger turbo is getts even more ass happy when power comes on so a little lighter is nice. great specifications for larger grip tracks if you use a R compound imo.

5/4 for drag racing with a low rebound shock.

oh and btw where you are really going to notice "handling" exception increases is by lowering the center of gravity to the point where suspension geometry is almost about to be cluter fucked.

This is why i like the idea of running the smallest diameter widest rim possible, keep the car LOW. It will handle like butter on a road course or scca. Body roll is your enemy. even in drifting

im on a budget im building my fc that takes most of my money. and whats left i put into my s13. so far i have welded diff, illegal garage clutch. blown gab coilovers. so i saw a good deal on some k sports in the group buy section so im probably going pick those up. i would buy stance but i wont have enough for them before aug 16( my first track event). so with the combo of things on s13 what spring rate would go well with it

I run roughly 11/8 because I actually have dampers that actually work.

I have 8/6 and I think it is too harsh but then again, sh*tty roads here.
Spend a little more money and get something better than the Megan units.

tanabe 7's w/ 10f/8r rates. dampening is adjusted to full soft for daily. works well and feels like an oem sports suspension unless the roads are very shitty.
