I just bought the whole kit for my s13. i am not going to put them in myself because its a bitch to do becasue i do not have a press. I was wondering what is an estimate on how much it will cost for a shop to do. I know every shop is different, but i dont want to get overcharged. if anyone who has had a shop put in bushings how much did you pay?

Okay price for just press and old one and press the new ones should be somewhere from 15-25 bucks each. Then there's the labor of taking off the stuff to get to the bushing.

It ain't cheap basically. You should ask round your area then get the best priced one and post it if want some help.

I still haven't decided how i'm going to do it either.

i bought a press from harbor freight for $120ish...if that helps.

Take off the suspension your self and burn out the old bushings, cut the sleeves out yourself with a sawzall or a hacksaw and then take that in and get it pressed in by the shop. Should be way less than $100. A vise even works to press them in if you have one.

I used a vice. It just takes a friend to help out and make sure everything lines up when you are squeezing it in.

i took all the arms off the car myself. didn't have a vise or a press so i dropped them off at a shop to press/burn out the old and press in the new. they said it still took them 6 hours to do. so that times the shop rate. they told me that when people drive their cars in for bushings, it's a 1 and a half day job. i'm in canada so i'm not sure how it translates but it cost me 400 bucks for just pressing out and in.

I actually just came home from installing the last of my bushing kit right now. For sure you wanna find a way to do it yourself because the labor to install that kit is gunna be at least 12 hrs and at $60 an hour for labor at a shop that'll end up being over $700. What you need to do it yourself is a torch, a vise, a hacksaw, and a cape chisel (special chisel for removing bushings). What you have to do is burn the old bushings out and knock out the metal sleeve in the center (just burn the holy hell out of them and while they're still burning push them out with a screwdriver). Next take your hacksaw and cut completely through the outer bushing shell, but be careful not to cut too far into the arms themselves. Now you have to take your cape chisel and collapse the outer shell, put the chisel in between the outer bushing shell and the arm right at one of the corners where you cut through the shell. Make sure the arm is tightly clamped in a vise and beat the piss out of the outer shell untill it comes out the arm. Now you have to use a file to remove any burrs you left while beating the crap out of your arms. Finally you use your vise to press the new bushings in, they'll almost never go in straight so u have to get them started and use a flathead screwdriver to push it all the way in. After the bushing is in you have to use the vise to press the sleeve in. If ur gunna try to do this yourself you must have a LOT OF PATIENCE!, and it will take you a very long time as you have to dissassemble the entire front and rear suspension. I can tell you for sure that it is very much worth it. The difference in handling is immediately noticeable and very significant. If u still wanna pay someone to do it for you P.M. me, I work at a shop and would be willing to do full install for you (under the table of course) with alignment. It may take a week or two though as I have to do it in my spare time.

I had my bushings pressed in by a shop for 60 dollars......

If you paid more than 100 to just get them burnt out, sawed, and pressed in, then you either got ripped off or your shop didn't know what they were doing.

Obviously you have never done the job yourself. I have installed energy kits on both of my 240's and it is not even worth it to install the bushings in the arms for $100. Installing the bushings in the arms takes like 8hrs, r&r on the suspension arms is the easy part. So if you got ur kit installed in ur arms for $60 you pretty much got the deal of a lifetime. I would charge $400 to $500 to do full install including alignment and that is a pretty good deal.
