i had the same problem on my 89 w/hud

check for continuity on your two wires from the speedo all the way to the cluster.

or run 2 new wires str8 to your cluster and see if it works then. then the problem is as you know a break in the wire.

2 check the voltage on your speedo. i know on the manual i beleive it was .5 v. I'm doing all this off of memory. dont know if its the same voltage on an auto.

if these 2 seem to vbring no results its your hud which is very expensive.

so go for the easy cheap solutions first.

the 2 i stated should suffice.
