we got sum wrx's today at my job. only the hatch though. they're not that bad. it has a 2.5L. u guys have to realize that the new wrc rules require for the cars to be hatches now which is why subbie made 2 wrx versions with the sti being the hatch

Did you watch the last round of WRC in New Zealand? Subaru and Mitsu are still running sedans and doing terrible. Clearly hatches have proven dominant now for some time. Reason I think for the new STi being a hatch. Surprised Mitsu hasn't gone the same route.

haha YEP. the front headlamps look pretty, but the back end and overall rear section of the car is fucking horrible.

i keep looking at the rear of the car expecting to see a "FORD" badge right in the middle. shit reminds me of something mazda should make.

subaru typically makes ugly cars, but this one isnt ugly enough to be full subaru. it looks like its mixed with modern-day mazda.

the X looks waaay better than the pics of the suby hatch so far. we will see how things pan out when the production models are released.

i agree, hopfully they continue to better the cars as the years come in. i wont be getting rid of my 06, but i might be picking up that 08 hatch. the gcs were sick espeically the 22b, and on the evo side the tm evo6 was killer.

......what a poor handling excuse of a car. i swear they ruined this car. the only nice thing....is the seats.

anyone want a writeup of my testdrive of the car?

i have no faith now that the STi will be any good.

call it talking shit, but even at the technician meeting we had today to go over some of the new features (not all of them, the rest will be shown to me at subie school in either mid oct. or nov.) and some of the shit they put in this car is downright retarded! for example.....

an AC belt that your stretch to fit instead of using a tensioner? RETARDED.

they left the bolt holes for a tensioner in case their design blows up in their face....which it always does.

so its not so much talking shit on my part as it is....professional opinion of a shitty overhyped car.

and yeah, i hope to hell there is a solution to this car's shittyness found in modifying the shit out of it.

mm..... i dunno about that. with the last GD fascia upgrade, when i saw it in pictures, i said, "this looks like shit". i went to the dealership to check them out and then i said "this looks hot as hell". i did the same with the new WRX's. it still looks like shit in person. so yeah..... if subaru was shooting for "the beauty of all wheel drive", this ain't it, imo.


list of things i don't like:

framed door glass.... WTF?
plastic fanstastic legacy engine
lack of big fucking fender flares
lack of big fucking spoiler
lack of big fucking hood scoop


granted, i'm sure it'll sell, but not to purists and enthusiasts. which is kinda what subaru was kinda shooting for.
