My 2001 S15 Spec R build thread - fun times

Ok so I decided to start one of these threads. I really never have in the past because all my builds take a long time and i forget to get pics along the way etc etc.. So This time I will actually try and do it each step of the way.. Its going to take a lil more time than normal since the car is up in seattle. I go up there every other weekend or so.. Not going to say what all is going in the car. You will have to wait for updates. Right now its ready for Justin Elin at Position 1 racecraft to do the stitch weld and full cage.. Anyway here is the start of the build..

The beginning:

Ah Chad, I hate to break it to you but if thats the front bumper it came with someone did a switch on you. Thats not a Spec R bumper. I would look your car over carefully and check documention on it. Its possible someone put Spec R badges on a non spec R S15. Because it does not look like its in Spec R trim and like I said that front bumper is not Spec R its just a regular old S15 bumper.

Spec R's had a more aggressive front bumper and factory side skirts. As far as the turbo goes most likely yes the turbo was an upgraded version of the stock one. Though do not quote me on the turbo part. Though I know about the bodywork side of it. His car has the skirts but not the bumper which makes me think someone swapped it on him.
This is a spec R bumper.

yeah its just a regular spec r... and they have other package models like "aero, v-package, b-package, electronic control, l-package, ect"

Spec-R Aero

Stock Spec-R

its nice to see something fairly new get worked on... no rust or signs of abuse along with being completely stock minus the wheels and shifter.

wonder why....

I could be wrong but its just a guess on this one

That is the spec r trunk brace. I have it on my S14 as well as the two pieces in the front of the trunk. The spec r also comes with B pillar bracing that attaches to the floor and C pillar braces that you can just make out in one of the pics. The spec r also had roof reinforcements and front and rear underbody reinforcements that tie the frame rails together.

Apart from the roof bracing I have all the parts. The frame rail reinforcements made a huge difference! the rest, I really cant say.

lol don't we all wish. You don't for street. You can acquire one and use it for track only though. I.E. trailer it to and from the track.

You want somewhat legalize? Registered as a kit car in FL...

Anyways, whats the plan for the engine? How much power are you shooting for and what to do with the crappy 6 speed tranny once you start shooting over 350 hp?

OK a lot of questions asked..

Thanks for all the coments.

It is a Aero Spec R. I have all the docs for it. The spec R bumper got messed up from shipping so I got a new one..
'
The brace is stock..

The car is legal. I daily drive it..

I am not staying with the stock sr20 motor. Going with something completely different and not saying what. You guys will see once I get the mounts made and the motor in

Glad you guys are enjoying the build...

I do not care about how much power it is making. I do have a goal in mind though. I am changing it out because the norm is to just build the sr. I want to do something out of the norm..
