Stereotype? What does that even mean in the context im using it in? You can get S15's all day long in Japan for around 10k (or sometimes way less). IMO, that's really cheap for the kind of car you get. Considering 1997-1998 kouki s14's with a KA still go for around 8k here in the U.S...
http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/100403434 And apparently since this guy can import and legalize an S15, 5k-6k for one with NO/blown motor should be no problem... |

think of how much he can get for S15 parts.
and for the guys arguing about an LSX motor and an Sr. who cares some people like high revving motors and some like torque mosters. to each his own. but there is something about an LSx with heads and cam that makes feel funny inside. |

Again a Kouki S14 K's over here still goes for 8-10K, so what is the difference?? I am not going to sit here and argue about it, I am just saying that everyone thinks everything is cheaper in Japan and they don't realize that we are paying out of our assholes for the same shit they think Japanese guys just "throw away". Hell, most of us order engine parts and other things that will work from the U.S. in order to save money and still get quality, even the Japanese are starting to follow suit on that one. |

It's now quite apparent his "legalized" S15 isn't truely legal. So I suppose it doesn't really matter what he does with it. I'm also not quite understanding what you're spouting off about with jdm parts. All the aftermarket parts I've ever had or seen in the japanese market are extremely cheaper than they are stateside. Have you even been to UpGarage? For example: you can get used cusco strut bars for the s14 for around $20. Here you would be paying upwards towards $150 for a used one... Only OEM parts are similar in price in the Japanese market as they are in the US Market. |

Cosworth Pistons - 155 each (RB26). Same Cosworth Pistons sold by JUN about 2200.00 for the set. Greddy Oil Cooler Kit (about 700 ish for the good one) Piece together my own Setrab set up from Summit about 500.00 HKS Step 3 Stroker Kit for RB26 About 9k (Made by crower in the states) Direct order that fucker for about 6K-7K A custom radiator from Ron Davis with Fans would cost me the same as the Greddy radiator I just bought without fans. The only reason I didn't go that route was because I neeeded it kinda quickly and didn't have the time to wait. Ron Davis is far superior to Greddy radiators as I have been told by many engine builders. Hell even japanese guys I know would love to have one themselves. The only thing I have bought in Japan that was cheaper than stateside shit was the NAMS Control Arms (Complete Kit was about 2300.00 against the 2500 ish that it would have cost to buy everything from SPL) That is what I am talking about right there. Do not insult my intelligence by telling me about junk distributors like Up garage. If you actually learned anything while you were here (i am assuming you lived here at one point) you would know that there are better places to find better shit for better prices and that is what I do Up Garage is a joke. However, regardless of who you talk to, an S15 is still going to cost some cash unless you buy a Spec S that has to be completely reworked anyways and would cost even more than the type R in the long run (I know someone that went this route and he says to just go ahead and get the type R in the first place, to many things need to be changed to make it what it should be and it all adds up way to quickly). You made a lame statement that made no sense to me about S15's being cheap or whatever so I called you out on it (it was a lame statement). I am tired of guys thinking everything is oh so cheap when they are comparing used parts to new parts or whatever, I get so much shit from the states it is crazy. Shit my S15 will be USDM Tyte Yo!!! PLUS bashing this dudes project over legalization or the choices he made is really fucking retarded. Who really cares if his car is legal or not, it looks like a cool project and the consequences of his actions have absolutely no bearing on your daily life, so get the fuck over it clown ops. Take this shit to PM if you got anything else to say to me, I am done with you. Get what I am saying now??? Don't reply it really isn't necessary. |
