hey, i'm thinking about picking up an apex'i avcr boost controller to go along with my safc. just wondering if anyone as any experience with this model. i searched and found a lot of people using the newer versions. but not so much the older avcr's

this is the model i'm thinking about buying.

I had a friend that used the older version AVCR in his 1st gen Eclipse GSX and it actually worked great until he decided to take apart the selenoid and tried cleaning it although it was still working great. LOL

Go for it if it's a damn good price, if not then get a new one. I see the newer version sell around $200-250 used nowadays.

well it looks like the pros outweight the cons. ugly is subjective, i would rather have this than a newer one any day. i think the newer ones look tacky, which is why i went with a knob safc also.

there is a saying that goes Keep It Simple Stupid. Unless you are taking it to someone who is experienced with tuning electronic boost controllers (there is a lot that goes into it, if you want it done right), just buy a manual one.

I had a AVCR (the model that your showing). It worked great. I also had a Greddy Profec B at one point on a 2nd Gen Eclipse, it worked great. Nothing is wrong with that AVCR. Its just, if you are only looking to increase boost for weekend fun, a manual boost controller will suit you more. Its less then half the cost and you get the same benefit.

I dunno if the MAP and solenoid are different. But the ones on the super are prolly the best out there. Also, once toy learn the SAVCR's software you won't go back to anything else.

I think the old AVC-R is better then the new one for the same reasons the old PRofec B is better then the PRofec B SpecII.

I have other electronics to moniter things, I just want my boost controller to give me better response and keep my boost where I want it.

So I got a SARD Boost Trigger. It and the PRofec B are tight. SImple and effective. Why do I need to monitor my injector pulse width, that is what a stand alone is for.

I personally liike the profec b. Press the button for high boost. if you are in the finals and failing. Turn it all the way up.
