Just like the post says. How much is it normally to get it replaced?

E.G.R. valve I think means emission gas recirculation and it vacuums air back to the engine.  It shouldn't be too expensive, problably less then 100,  installation might be expensive.  You should instal it it with somebody who knows about auto mechanic to save some money.

oh really? cause i talked to the mechanic and I asked him if it was the valve and he said it was the sensor. I didn't know there was an EGR sensor.

So it shouldn't cost too much to replace?

if it was like mine, the hose going to it is rubber and nissan had a great i dea of puttin a rubber hose on an EGR. it split, and was causing a real bad idle try replacing the hose first. before you spend $ on a new EGR

Does it have to do anything with the hoses that's conected to the intake pipe?

From my deduction, the EGR system is located to the right of the engine bay. Yes, a hose from the EGR connects to the intake near the air filter.

Look to the right at the far end of the block; you should see a disk shaped valve with a hose running to a small black box, then to the air filter. Inspect those hoses.

Good luck.

Thanks. I'm gonna go check it out in a bit. The possible problems with EGR in MOST cases are bad hoses or stuck EGR valve right? My engine only has 75k on it.

I think the EGR sensor is the little sensor that sticks into the exhaust manifold. &nbsp;I have my stock EGR valve(the pipe that goes around the back of the engine as well as the sensor)off of my &nbsp;93 KA24DE. &nbsp;I probably have the hoses too if you want em. &nbsp;Make me a reasonable offer and they're your's if you want them. &nbsp;[email protected] or pm me

I went to my mechanic when my check engine light ccame on (the only time I ever go to a mechanic) and he plugged in and with the scantool, it came up "EGR level too high" or something to that effect and he looked at me and asked 2 questions.
Jim: Rough Idle?
Me: Nope
Jim: Bad fuel mileage?
Me: Nope
Then he clicked the button to clear the ECU and told me not to worry about it until I have one of those (or a similar) problem to go along with my check engine light... This was a year ago and I haven't seen the light since, &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

the manifold sensor is your o2 sensor... the egr is behind the intake manifold... mine had cracked to hell pipes and such, so I put new rubber in and my car runs fine.

Im sure this has been anwsered but as far as I know there are both a Exhuast Gas Recircu-what ever Valve and a Sensor. &nbsp; The sensor pretty much tells you if its running correctly. &nbsp;this will probably effect your idle, but nothing to be scared about. &nbsp; It simply recirculates your exhuast gases back into the combustion cycle to be more "effeciently" burned.

I think

I think the E.G.R. sensor is the one above the EGR valve. It looks like the EGR valve but smaller. &nbsp;Sombody told me once I had to chance it, this is important in passing the emission test.

Man, I just popped my hood and the damn mechanic left a flashlight in the top right side of the engine bay. I tried looking for the hoses that go to the EGR and I still had no idea what it was and was not able to locate it.

Can somebody possible snap some pictures with a digicam or soemthing? that will be most helpful.

if you will look at the exhaust manifold the is a tube that runs between the engine and the fire wall that connects to the egr valve it sould lead right under the intake runner closes to the fire wall.my 98 check engine light has been on for a year with the same problem its usually caused by carbon build up in the valve, damn light pisses me off

HEY! free flashlight!
lol
seriously what if that had went into the fan or something? &nbsp;stupid mechanic.

open the hood and look at the inside of the hood. there should be a diagram of the system. just follow that and you'll be very close to finding it.
I went to a shop and asked the guy where it was
