I know i look like a broken record, but i found some new wheels that i might jump on. Just need some opinions. This will be going on a S13 COUPE.

17x9.5 +28 (rear)
17x8.5 +16 (front)

Looking to run a BFGoodrich 275/40/17 Drag radial on the rears.
Tire Diameter = 25.70 in.
Section Width = 11.00 in.

http://zilvia.net/f/chat/166563-maxi...ml#post3535638
This guy is running a 17x9.5 +12 with a 275/40/17 and about 3 degrees of camber.

So i am basing my figures off his car that these wheels i want should be 9/16 more into the wheel well. Whats your guy's thoughts on this?

Should work pretty "well" right?

This is all going to depend on how low you run the car. You would need to pull the quarters slightly to run that setup if you want to run at a fairly low stance. If you look at my old setup I just posted, those are 275 on a 10" +44. You will be extending out an additional 10mm over the setup I had.... and mine would rub if I went any lower. I had rolled quarters just so you know. I wanted to go lower so I pulled the quarters and now run the 285.

This thread is getting clogged with stupid.

Broadfields car belongs here more than most.

Also his tires are well with in manufactures specs for wheel size so there is no stretch. They just aren't as square as possible. Not that it matters.

Unless its a drag slick, a 315 on a 10" wheel is counter productive.

I think this thread needs it's own mod already. It does not need to go the way of the fitment thread.

Back when I bought those rims, if I had the money I would have done a 12" too. I really want to see if I can stuff some 345s back there just for the hell of it.

19x10 +20. Ebay supposedly 50mm overs. I had to flex them out alot to get the tires to clear.

265/40R17 Direzza Star Spec on 17x9.5 RPF1 +38mm offset.

Stock suspension and bodywork.

I figure it would be helpful if i posted this now, since its stock. The fender will need to be rolled, and maybe a slight pull. (Im going to lower it, duh.)

At full droop, there was clearance issues with the stock shocks. A small spacer on the rear spindle easily takes care of this. With coils of smaller O.D., this may not be an issue at all. Also, it only rubs when the suspension droops. Lowering the car and using stiffer/shorter springs with less droop will probably make this a non issue.

If not, all it takes is a few washers.

radius of 12.3in stock vs. 12.7in with these tires... raised by car up by .4 inches.

EDIT: grr... pic didnt work. I will fix this soon.

Pics:

also note that i have that little piece of stock rubber trim on the fender still. I am going to take it off, but thats why the shot that looks from the door to the back looks funny

am i correct in assuming that a 10.5 +30 wheel at 0 to -.5* camber will fit under stock s14 metal with a roll? i wanna throw a 295 or 305 on there.

how bout a 10.5 +35? might hit coilovers? i have stance coils.

Doing the math, a 10.5 +35 will have 181mm of backspace and using a 305 width would only make that worse in relation to contacting your coil body. I know from experience using an 11.5 +24 Work Equip with 275 was at 183mm backspace and even with minimal camber (~-.5 deg) I was making contact with the coilover so I sold the wheels and went with a 10.5 +27 and about 2.5 to 3 deg I still haven't made contact.

I'd play it safe and if you want a 305, stick with 10.5 +30. You will have to do fender work though i.e. a roll and fairly healthy pull.

I had a set of those 315s on my 240sx... they didn't hook worth a shit. Then again, Nitto 315 DRs don't hook worth a shit on my car either.

Really? what kind of power are you making?

i run a BFG 225/55/15 Drag radial on a 410whp/360 tq 2JZ 240sx and the car hooks pretty damn well. can't imagine having tire spin on a tire THAT MUCH bigger.

not that your post wasn't informative, but can you add onto that a little more? now that we know nitto 315 DRs are worthless, can you tell us what you switched them with?

how much power were you making? wheel width and offset?

jesus

i know its difficult for you to understand, but we come here to see pictures/examples/past experiences of others who have run wide tires on their cars, specifically nissan 240sx!!!! go figure, right? but i'm glad you felt the need to come on here and wave your big 315 p3n1s around for us to envy.
in conclusion, no one here really cares!! unless of course they own a foxbody too, but why wouldnt they go to a foxbody forum? all this thinking is hurting my head, is it hurting yours too?

I like it personally.

It's nice to see good fitment on different chassis even if it is easier on that chassis.

i run a BFG 225/55/15 Drag radial on a 410whp/360 tq 2JZ 240sx and the car hooks pretty damn well. can't imagine having tire spin on a tire THAT MUCH bigger.
Setup is 315/35 17x10 +12, solid subframe, tilt spacers, 2way lsd. RB26dett GT2540s on 20psi. I also have the battery, 15 gallon fuel cell, and 10lb n20 bottle in the trunk.

I think the problem is the 17s, not enough sidewall. If I get on it at all in first, second, or third, it just spins. Originally, I had Sumitomos on there, but they were just too hard and broke traction constantly. The Nittos are better, but still too hard to hook up. Maybe they'll work if you're under 400hp or have a heavier car?

The next setup will be some 15x10s, probably a 325/50 tire.
