This weekend I'm changing my tranny fluid. Any suggestions on which brand I should use? I've heard redline is pretty good, but I don't know where to find. If I can't get redline, what should I use?

To make everthing easier on you when you change your tranny fluid you dont have to refill your tranny through the refill hole on the side of the tranny. If your doing it at home with out a lift it can be difficult. This method calls for a long hose and a funnel. Drain the oil from the drain hole and refill it through the shifter. Take your shifter boot and shifter off then pour the oil into the shifter hole. You need to find out how much oil the tranny needs. I believe its between 2.5-3 quarts. I've had good experience with redline, but there are tons of other companies out there Motul, Neo, Castrol etc.

MOST IMPORTANT!!!

open the fill hole BEFORE draining the fluid!!

also you just buy a pump to fill the tranny, you dont need to put it thru the shifter, its easier this way
you need one when you do the diff anyways, might as well invest in one.

good luck!

Alright guys, thanks for the input. I just got back from AAP and the only synthetic gear oil they had was Mobile 1 and it was $8.99 a quart and I didn't get it, but I did get a pump. Eff it, I'm just going to shell out a few more bucks for Redline. Is there any other site that sells it besides optauto? I need 3 quarts right?

Yeah, I have a pretty good idea of how to do it. I just wasn't sure where the drain and fill plugs were. Thanks for the link.

I second that, using the exact same stuff and shifts silky smooth.

DSC: Man, I love your website, it's so helpful.
One thing before I attempt this (it's been 20,000miles and my tranny is already near dead&#33 weekend. Do you have to keep the car level? If so, I'll have the dealer do it
