the crank angle sensor is located in the distributer. It's a 360degree tooth wheel
edit: I had a blonde moment

Camshaft position sensor is located within the distributor.
Crankshaft position sensor sits in the bellhousing, top side, just below the EGR pipe. Accessible from the exhaust side with a short socket and wobble extension, or a stubby wrench.

?? The firewall maybe, behind the heater core. Unless your bellhousing is at the other end of the transmission.

wow - its silly to cut a hole in ur car - just do it the right way
![]() i cant really picture where u'd cut - anyway??? I dont have a KA to look at, but i imagine its easier to drop a tranny than remove everything from the dash, inward.

hey guys, well i havent got round to replacing the crank shaft sensor, but i did however replace the crank angle sensor and came across a bad problem. The car will not start! I put in the newer angle sensor from a 96 ka24, and i connected the wiring to it and tried to start, but it wouldnt fire up. I would just get the noise proving that my starter is working but seems like the distributor wasnt firing.
SO, i replaced the sensor to hopefully "UNDO" what i am having a problem with and replaced the original sensor. However, still nothing. the car woudlnt start. I THINK that in the process i messed up the distributor. Could this be an issue? does the distributor have to have the same angle it was in before (if you understand wat im saying)? please let me know what i possibly could have done and what i need to do next.... thanks zilvia for your help! |

You're kidding right? Do you even know what a distributor does?
Ignition timing. Imagine you're at 10 degrees BTDC, you take the distributor out and rotate it half way around. Now where are you? I'll give you a hint, it's not at 10 degrees anymore.
