91 Coupe Speedo Problems

I have read some of the other threads and I have tried what they said.. I have a Digital/Hud Cluster, I swapped it for a Analog and rewired it to everything its suppose to be.. I checked all fuzes (Before swap and after swap) ... I ran a direct line from the VSS to the Cluster.. Nothing..... I Ohm'd out the VSS i was told it should be between 200 - 300.. it ohm'd at 255... I am at a loss.. I have swaped, rewired, multimetered, Ren Direct connects, check fuzes, I do not know what else to do.... Can someone give me any other problems that might cause this?

did you find that some of the wire colors were off because its sould work when you swap cluster and harness cuz signals are the same

I dont know what the problem is but I have had problems with the wires being slightly off or a pin was in the wrong place......good luck if I can find a answer before someone else I will contact u

FYI; you didnt state exactly what the problem is, im guessing it simply doesnt work

since you say everything checks out ok, then the coil could be weirding out on you, or the needles just stuck, try banging on it

why didn;t you just swap the sub harness and call it a day, ive done that shit so many times. its plug and play, take old HUD cluster out with sub harness, put new analog cluster in with sub harness. done.

No complete subharness came with it.. it was cut up ... so I only had what I had..I cant just grow a batch of wires, ya know.. LMAO... but If I can find one I would try it

Does anyone know or have a pic of the difference between the DOHC Cluster and the SOHC cluster?

teh diference is that the SOHC cluster redlines @ 6.5K and the DOHC redlines @ 7K then obviously the tach singnal for both is diferent. other than that they are the same pin out and speedo. i would say just go to ure local junk yard and find an S13 with an analog cluster. take the sub harness for it its only 4$ and u will

A) make ure car look allot cleaner
B) save yourself a headache
C) won't have to fix it inn the future
D) wont risk burning anything / shorting anything out because of unproper soldering and wraping skillz
