S13 KA24DE feels like having vtec after 5200rpm??
Hi! I have a 91 rps13 w/ stock ka24de.............i dun rev my engine that much, so i dunn when this started........i have noticed that once my rpm reached about 5200rpm, the acceleration rate is faster. for example: <5200rpm, a = 5m/s, >5200rpm, a = 7m/s...........and u can feel the difference, even my friend that doesnt know anything about cars noticed that............any ideas wat went wrong, or any1 had this funny problem b4???? I just has a clutch replaced w/ excedy oe clutch set and a fidenza 11lb flywheel.......and I have a minor leak in the engine - header gasket...............also, i did a complete 5-lug conversion w/ z32 brakes n s14 rims, if that would make any difference........
btw it happens at every gear.........i tried it out on highway suggestion please......i tried to search, but find nth........... |

an RPS13 is a 180sx with an SR20 in it, yeah its probly ur 5lug lug conversion and the z32 brakes because that has to do with ur powerband
![]() i had the reverse of that problem around 4000 my car felt like it lost all its power, so i put Lucas fuel system cleaner in and its perfect now

might be that leaky engine-header gasket you were talking about. go ahead and check the oxygen fluid level through the kanuter valve.............

Vastly Taking Everyones Car sum ricer on my local forum has this in his sig and its makes me mad but laugh all at the same time. also sumthing about his vtak kickin in and spanking my truck motor. this is why i love zilvia. i fucken hate ignorant people. my 200whp civic can beat any turbo car cause its all about all motor yo suck a dick okay. thank you. i'm done. oh yeah. its your 5 lug causing the vtec to kick in. do a 4x100 conv. and you'll be good again.

It MUST be either the johnson rod or the muffler bearing yo! Maybe someone hid a NAWZ bottle in there somewhere too. LOL! Seriously though punctuation and sentence structure are things that you learn in gradeschool. USE THEM! It is probably your new lightweight flywheel that is making the engine rev better.

The lack of power till ~5200 could be cause by either a bad coolant temp sensor or a bad knock sensor.
If it's the temp sensor you would notice a difference in how the engine runs when it's cold compared to when it warm. If it's the knock sensor, it's retarding timing until ~5000 rpm where the ecu just ignores the signal and then it's running better. Hope this helps |

5 m/s and 7 m/s are not acceleration units. They are velocity units.

haha, good point. i wonder what sophisticated equipment was used to determine these acceleration values. perhaps if we assumed constant acceleration and knew the total displacement of the car over a given time interval we could solve this problem a little easier.

Your clutch is slipping. At least thats what i gather from reading your OVERLY thought out post...You mean the engine accelerates revs faster? But the car doesnt accelerate as fast? Almost like its revving up in neutral? *shrug*
