Yah $6 a gallon would suck but the rest of the world has some differences...
In the $6/liter there is a tax included which is paying for healthcare (free healthcare) along with other things the taxs go to like schooling and such.
Also, their diesel is cheaper then regular gas (why wouldn't it be, diesel is cheaper product overall) and they have lots of cars which are running off of diesel engines and getting 50 miles to the gallon.
Here...diesel is more expensive and we don't have efficient diesel motors in our cars.
Simple S14, you have a point saying that the federal government owns most of the land, that gives them control over that. The EPA won't let the efficient cars in because then we wouldn't be using as much gas. Then... all the government officials wouldn't be making money.
