my sr20det won't crank?!

I sent my wiring harness to unstable hybrids to get wired, installed the motor, and it didn't crank. I tried troubleshooting like jumping from battery to starter and it turned but wouldn't fire, i hooked a test light to the coil pack, and there was no fire, any suggestions?

Go through that wiring harness bit by bit. Make sure that no solders accidentally broke loose. Double check the tranny harness as well.

First thing, when you turn the key to on, can you hear the fuel pump start up? If you do, this would verfiy that ecu has power and is working and you could go from there.

You say it rolls over but wont fire, right? It is possible you may have your fuel lines on backwards I did this with mine. Maybe check your plugs and make sure they spark.

Another thing I would do is pull your coil packs. Unbolt them and one at a time, try to turn the car over holding one of them outside the head but close enough to check for spark. This could be an issue for you.

the main coilpack power wire is probaly not hooked up to switched power. this will cause every thing to look good but not fire. the ignitor chip will send power (signal) to the coil but if the dont have power they wont spark. take a probe wire tester and poke threw the biggest wires going to the coils ( 1 per coil), they should have power when ever the key is in the on position. ( my earlier post was for a no crank situation)

good luck!

is the crank turning over or not?? Cause if it is, then your problem is most likely ignition.
Did you check to see if you're getting spark?? If you're getting spark, then the timing is off.
Are you sure you're getting fuel? You can pull a spark plug to see if it has some fuel on it.

yes i am getting fuel, i hear the fuel pump, smell the fuel, pulled the line to see fue, injectors are pulsing, no spark to the coils, crank is turning, timing is off also, if the crank angle sensor is not in line properly and the timing is way off, will it send signal to the coils or not

how did you check if your ignitor chip is working??? it sounds like ignitor chip to me. Also double check your CAS is it in the right place lined up properly timing wise. You need to take the valve cover off and check if it is lined up with the mark on the tip of the cas gear. There are two lines a orange one and a metalic indentation they need to be lined up go to www.srswap.com to FAQ and check CAS section it has a good description of what to look for. Also if you have any buddies with srs try using one of their ignitor chips and see if it fires. Also is the little red led light on the ecu lighting up if not your not getting ecu power. check these things out and then come back

if the timing is way off, then you the engine wouldn't crank, but it should occasionally shudder. set everything to TDC to make sure everything is in the right position and go from there.

although, if you're not getting spark at all, the problem probably isn't timing.

how did you check for spark, make sure its dark so you can see if it sparks. Are you sure your getting fuel, is your gas tank empty? haha , check your fuses again. ALso check under the dash for a igniton start signal fuse take it out and play with the throttle as you crank, somtimes the motors dont like cold starts.
