![]() hello everyone, im trying to help my friend put back togther his sr. i dont really know much about motors. i wanted to know how do you know if you put the camshafts back in right and what will happen if they are not in right?

theres these tabs on the ends of the cams... its where u bolt up the cam sprockets... the longer the tab... signifies if its the one used for the exhaust side because of the dizzy..
chances are if you dont align the cam sprockets right... with the timing chain markings and piston #1 to TDC.... starting it up you might not even run... or you could bend a valve...

You cant fuck up putting on the cams, what you can fuck up on is the mechanical timing and you bending the fucking valves if theyre off.
Not sure how much of the engine is apart or put back together but I'd start from scratch and follow the FSM. Make sure the bottom end is at TDC, double check the chain and make sure the marks are where theyre supposed to be. If those 2 are good, then putting the cams on and re-aligning the marks with the use of the chain marks is gonna be cake. |
