GM's volt and Nissans Cube are also coming out soon thats all electric. Also you guys are gay talking about doing engine swaps on a fit. The car is built to be an econo box. This is not honda tech, please stop the madness. Anyone who wastes 1,000s on bodykits and engine swaps for a fit should be banned from zilvia. |

I have an 08 Fit.
I love every bit of it, it was 15K. Gas - It was rated something like 37/34, I forget the exact. On average city and hwy i got 37mpg with spirited driving. Now in the past 4 tanks and because gas keeps going up I have been driving normally and staying at 65-70 on hwy and it gets 39-40mpg. Now if I really push it and coast a lot I got 42 on a tank, and this included one trip to downtown chicago and a lot of stop and go, I think I can push 43-44 on it. The Prius actually gets about the same, it gets under 40 if you never get on the hwy and the engine is running more than it is on electricity. Space - I have a coworker who has a Prius and space wise the Fit is not that far from it. The rear of a Fit is actually quite spacious even for someone with long legs. The head room is deceiving spacious like the xB, its not great for 5 people but 5 grown people can fit, 4 is perfect. And the trunk space is there to carry all 4 peoples stuff. Also the magic seats are awesome, fold them down and you can carry 4 wheels and a jack easily (without stacking). Fold them up and you can carry a bike. Ride - First off get manual, especially if you are concerned about gas so much easier to control your mileage. The car rides pretty well stock, its a little tail happy and the suspension is soft but its comfortable on a long ride. Only suggestion is buy the JDM armrest (I need to do that still). It has 5 cupholders a decent sound system (Sport). I added a Pioneer Avic Z2 and hacked it so it makes for the best long trip ride. On top of all that it looks awesome, the prius is hideous, and I cant stand the fact that the monitor just shows the engines status and controls audio. I want navi and dvd in my daily not to see a flow of power... I also got STANCE coilovers for it and they are great, rides better than stock, its still soft and smooth but looks better. The only thing I hate about it, is its a Honda. Hondas are fun to mod (hate them or not), and there is so much shit I could buy. However, I am trying to restrain myself and only buy comfort things. Although I am considering an intake to see if I can get better mileage.

The fit was built to be a fuel efficient car with good cargo space. Thats all it was built for.
The s13 on the other hand was built to be a cheap sporty car. Thus the rwd, lack of a real back seat, sporty look, and average mpg. I wouldnt justify spending 20k on a s13 but I can understand people turning an entry sports car into a real sports car. I cant however understand people buying a fit to save on gas and spending all that money just to make it handle a little better and have a little more hp. how many people who have fits as a dd ever take them to the track? It doesnt make sense to by coilovers to stiffin up a dd. or a bodykit and wheels to make the car look fast if its only a fwd dd. Thats my way of thinking anyhow. Everyone is different though, and thats why there is a honda tech. |

so in your world, if its not a "sporty car" it shouldnt be modded?? honda's are what brought this scene to what it is. if there was no honda scene there would be no 240 scene.

Building up a Fit for power is pretty retarded because it negates its original intended purpose as an economy car. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting new wheels, springs or coilovers, etc. though. Just gotta know your limit with it and not forget what you bought it for in the first place.

I agree with you somewhat muddafakka (lol funny sn). But coilovers? Wouldnt you want your fit to be a comfy ride?

So yes in my world if its not a worthy platform to build a sports car it shouldnt be modded. which is the reason i have owned 2 civics, an eclipse, and a cavalier and never bought more than a new battery and windshield wipers for them. But like I said. Its good that not everyone is like me. Or else I wouldnt be able to make fun of the 08 yaris with full bodykit and 18' fns. |

^^^ it's true. They're retarded slow. I think the VX has 92hp...something like that.
But lately I've been driving like a grandma anyways. I never get above 2200 rpm 1st - 3 rd gear, 2500 rpm 4th and then 3000 rpm in 5th which is around 65ish. I swear if I can't get my 2.5rs over 30 mpg soon I'm gonna sell it. It's rated for 28mpg and I have been getting 25-26 mpg average.

Ive owned a 1990 civic hatch and a 4 door 1992 civic dx i believe. The civic was an average car as far as comfort. I guess my expectations are just low on a daily driver. My old house was on a hill and it was a pita getting in and out a s13. The civic was better because of the lighter doors. I drive a 5spd 00' cavalier now that feels like it has about 50hp so im sure the civic is about the same.

just look at the 240sx aftermarket before the honda craze and after. then tell me what you think. i bought my first 240 in 96 and the only performance parts i could find were intakes and exhausts. no one cared about 240's till after they stopped making them.

I agree that American companies saw how much money they could make off of kids by selling them honda and eclipse aftermarket parts. And I agree that the "scene" grew because of it and companies started offering more real sport car parts.
However I thought it was dumb to modify a civic for daily driving back in 98' and I still think its a waste 10 years later with a fit. If you like to drag race than by all means go ahead with a civic because its a light car. But if your daily driving a car like the fit you dont need coil overs, turbos, and bodykits to hard park. |

If I owned a Fit I'd probably do a little suspension work and maybe a couple small power mods. It still won't be fast, but I wouldn't care as long as it's fun to drive.
However, I don't understand the pseudo-VIP treatment everyone seems to giving them. It looks like - and is about the same size as - a fucking shoe. Ballers don't drive shoes.

um, prius doesnt make the 80mpg or whatever that is posted. Oh, and it only come in auto (obviously).
F that and buy the Fit. Cheaper, lighter, better storage, better looks (as much as can be expected). Also, screw toyota, they replaced the markIV supra with the solara.... they lose ![]() |

Power wise I wont do much, although I am tempted, for now it starts with intake, who knows what will be next. If a Honda is done well, the right intake, the right exhaust, etc. It can sound pretty bad ass and be fun. It may not be a 400 hp s13 or rwd but if you have ever driven a nicely built honda its a fun as hell car to drive. And whats wrong with making your car look good even though its a daily, as long as I dont strip the interior and cage it and make it too low, its still an awesome daily.
