Exclamation RB25 and OBD questions (help and suggestions)

Ok i will try to keep this as short as possible.

I own a 1997 240sx SE and have just come across a smoking deal on a r33 clip. I have been planning to do the RB25det swap for a few months now but have been questioning it latley due to emissions.

My car is ODBII and as far as i understand there are no OBDII skylines so I need to find some way to get through emissions. the engine will pass a sniffer test and visual (workers here are retarded) but because its OBDII all they do is plug the scanner into my ECU and check for emissions equipment working properly.

this is a problem because the skyline obviously dosent have this capability.

it was just brought to my attention that Motorex has to have converted the r34's to OBDII, how did they do it?

any and ALL suggestions are welcome! PLEASE give me advice
PM me, email [email protected], AIM hawk0028

i need to figure this out somehow..

The way they do it is proprietary info... they're not really likely to release it.

My guess is that they either have to do serious hacking of the stock ECU to enable it, or somehow adapt an OBD2 ECU from some other Nissan to run the RB26. Either way... it adds $10k to the conversion cost (look at the jump in price on their web page between '95 and '96).

You should contact them and contact McKinney Motorsports (they do RB installs, as well as Unstable Hybrids) to see if anyone will have any information for you as far as maybe just purchasing the re-worked ECU. I wouldn't go for it, personally, unless you wanna leave the plug there and tell them that you've been having electrical problems with the car or some bs excuse like that when they can't pull anything up... who knows... it might work.

Edit: West found this link http://www.925style.com/editor_direct.html in our links section. They have RB info, not sure for which displacement though. You might wanna check it out.

Thanks guys, i sent out a round of emails.

i know most of this is proprietary information but im willing to pay for a new special OBDII ecu if it gets me through emissions.
