Silvia Twin Bricks - Improving lighting
My Silvia Twin Bricks are pretty lousy at lighting up anything on normal dipped beam plus the beam pattern is all off to be legal on UK roads.
Is there anything that can be done to these lamps to improve brightness and beam pattern, short of changing to HIDs? I've got a feeling the pattern is off because the reflective chrome inside the lamp doesn't have the same shine it used to - can this be cleaned up? I've seen the guide for the projector lamps but wondered about bricks?

The dual reflector housings have ALWAYS sucked. Putting HID lamps in them doesn't make it any better, it just makes brighter light shine in the wrong directions.
They are more pleasing to the eyes then the OOo==oOO "Spider Eyes", but the projector headlights can be modified more easily for proper lighting.

Anything that can be done at all? Mostly with the beam pattern? My car failed its MOT last year [UK test thing which you need annually to be able to drive your car on the road] because the beam pattern was very wrong!

If you need LHD beam pattern, then yes, you're better off modifying the projector headlights instead of messing with the bricks. |

I am RHD yep, my car is RHD too, but my beam pattern is shit. One beam is blurry as hell with no defining line and the other one flicks up on the wrong side! We can't figure it out, unless I have LHD lamps which is VERY unlikely!

I think the best bet maybe to order some clear lenses as an excuse to take them to bits and clean them out. I can imagine buying new ones to be mega money.

Ewww I don't like the projectors.
On a related note - I swear I've seen pics on here of a Silvia with Twin Bricks with JUST the 'inside' two lamps on and nothing else. On my car, the inside two are the full beams and only come on with the outside two.

I'd say take the lights apart, clean them good, then put them back together and see if you see an improvement. If you don't, THEN buy new ones. |

I always run with my inner "fogs" on with my bricks and the lighting is 10x better and alot more concentrated in one area, the inners im able to aim both of them striaght ahead also and I get good lighting on the road, but the driving lights aren't that great.

I've had the same dilemma. mah man.
Yuo can switch out the hi/lo's to an h3 ('stead of an h4) bulb, with some mod. It's the same as light used on the fog lights. I still haven't found ze right up on this, or had the time to mangle up my lights. Keep searching then let me know!

i also found out that low beams was horrible and "hi" beam was the only usable light but of course it blinded people.

The bricks will always suck... To tell you the truth all of the S13 lighting sucks anyways in my opinion...
The only way to be happy is with a correct retrofit... I remember when I went from my S13 to a new car and was shocked at how bad the S13 lighting was... Friends of mine have retrofitted HIDs and they are 10 times better...

I think what he means is the light output of the H3's are weak I know mines are I haven't bothered to change them yet becasue im satisfied with the lighting from teh ceter fogs.
