Happens a lot, that's why Nismo makes an upgrade. Too stiff a clutch will do it easily, so will abuse.
Transmission has to be pulled to replace it.

thats why i replaced mine with an spl one while my transmission was off.. $30 and better than taking my tranny off to replace it or having that happen while im driving.

anytime you have to take something apart, and there is something that is easier to replace when it is out, than do it while it is out. just think ahead. that really sucks though. I just wanted to state the obvious so anyone else who reads this will know to think about those things. another thing that I think is most obvious, is the rear main seal when swapping motors, i think rule of thumb is to just replace it while the trany is off the motor, every time you take that bitch off, just replace it. its like a 10 part from nissan. but plus one to you for havin ratchet wrenches, thats smart.

thanks for the input guys, ill see what i can do.
May sound dumb, but would the dealership sell the nismo version or is that a brand i have to order online. i know the dealership sells some nismo stuff, but for a specific part like this i am not sure. Never thought to stiff of a clutch would do this, ive been driving for about 2 years now with that setup. Luckily it snaped off when i was driving on a regular road and not on the highway. i was going to homedepot and half way there it snaped. happend right when i shifted in second gear right after i crossed the intersection. |

The dealer may not stock it but they can get it, just like any other Nissan part.

Yah it happened. But how many years has that pivot thing been there and suddenly you stress it out with something so stiff.... Just common knowledge of metal fatigue... Happens.

i do not remember. if not i bet thats what help caused it to snap.
update: Got the tranny out, now just waiting on the pivot ball and rear tail seal. ![]() then i ran into another problem. I was trying to loosen up the nut for the engine mount so the motor can have some play to swing back a bit, consequently, the nut strip. I tryed the bolt out method and that didnt work. however i came up with a new idea. ![]() that idea is to take another nut and weld it to the pre-existing nut and try that, so far i havent got that far yet. ![]() |

don_bagz - There's no need to 'check' yours. If the clutch works, it's not broken, it's not like it's a wear item that gets worse over time, it's either working or broken in half and you have no clutch.

Most parts counter people look at you like you are speaking Klingon if you give them a part #. Just call them up with the Year, Model and Part Name and make them feel special that they know how to use FAST.

They will sell it, probably won't have it in stock. Probably won't have the stock part in stock ether.
