Question on my s15

Problems with my s15
I have just changed my gearbox from a 6spd to a s14 5spd with ORC clutch 409 and also nismo gttpro 2way lsd.

when i am travelling in 3 gear onward, i step in accelerator i feel something below is shaking and then when i release there is a grinding sound coming out from the gearbox..any1 know why??

Upgrading Ques.

I wanna upgrade my turbo and also using a bolt on 1. is GT2871 gd? or anything else??

First off do you know the history of your tranny? how many miles, rebuilds so on so forth. Its possible that you might have a bent clutch for witch will sometimes keep the clutch semi engaged causing grinding. Your gears might be bad, there is a whole list of things that can be wrong with your tranny. Best thing is, take it to a tranny shop, have them look at it, unless you can figure it out and save yourself some bucks.

Turbos.... im gonna throw this out there f%ck you haha i want a s15 sooooooooooooooooooooo bad. but none the less were all silvia's at heart right?

2871RS are awesome turbo's, not to laggy, good amount of power. it walks away from a stock sr like its standing still (im walking proof, it happened to me). The only one bigger than that i would go is a 3071. Thats just about the cutoff for a unbuilt, daily to regular driving silvia. Its a little more laggy than the 2871, but its a INSANE turbo. if your looking to beat up on stock vipers, couple lambos, SOME 400+ sti's evo's... here it is for ya. good turbo

Hell, it could be anything from fucked up tranny to bad Throw out bearing to fucked up pressure plate.

lol. S15's in america are chevy trucks...

anyhow, if its only 1 gear, sounds like the tranny. could have a messed up shift fork, or synchro... Best bet would be to find another 5 speed tranny, tear it apart, rebuild it, and put it into your car.

I say another, because im sure you want to drive something while your doing this...

if i am getting around 400hp at engine..what recommendation would u all choose?

i am confuse when come to power..lolz

400hp, stay away from getting another 6 speed, thats for damn sure.

For 400 hp you'd probably be good with a drop in Poncam and 740cc injectors if you want to go the Tomei route. It's good stuff, and the Poncams will let you keep your stock valve springs so your VTC gear has a chance to live a decent life.
