R33 GT-R Brembo brakes...bolt on and big enough for most people. at least it is for me. brakes held up nicely 4 laps in a row on the nurburgring north loop. i'm running EBC yellowstuff pads up front and some EBC OEM style rotors.

by the way...Brembo aluminum calipers are lighter than the (wayyyy smaller) Z32 cast iron calipers.

Has anyone actually tried using the Z32 ebrake setup on a Evo rotor/ caliper rear setup? I'm wondering if the drums are the same size, if not guess I'll just stick to Z32 rear, Evo front.

Would be radder if they were all the bigger shit though....

john c already done it....you can't use evo rotor and Z32 E-brakes..the inner diameter of the EVO rotor is too small

search the thread..i think it's on page 6-7-8

sigh

sti rear caliper or evo rear caliper (too lazy to look up which)

z32 rear rotors

z32 rear drum ebrake setup

or

you can cut out all this nonsense
and just use z32 everything all around and spend the difference in effort time and money on better pads and tires

Ok, I was being lazy, I didn't think I saw anything solid about it my first run through this thread, only speculation.

I'm just thinking of ideas. The last thing my car needs is more brakes, So I want to give it more brakes.

As far as not being brembo.....

Stick with Z32 rears if you already have them

Piston size on STI caliper is smaller than z32 btw. not by much but still.

^^^100% with Johnc, just stick to z32, alot of my friends running sti/evo front setup with my brackets tracked them hard with no problem. brembos all around are nice but stick with something already proven and have not yet failed. sti/evo fronts and z32 are perfect combination.

Ok, I'll take you all's word for it.

I don't want to compromise performance for the look, hahahahaha. I'll waste money, but downgrading would be stupid.

man I can't wait any more. I think I am going to sell my evo brakes and move on to the Z32 set up. From the posting it seems like the Z32 will be more balanced set up than the evo. I also like the fact that everything fits well without brakets and adapters. I would've love to see that "Brembo" lettering on that red calipers. May be I should get those cheap ass brake cover...lol jk

EVO fronts are better, sell the rear EVO's and get some Z32's

Skyline GTR brakes have brembos that BOLT right up. R32/R33 GTR uses the Black brembo calipers. The R34 GTR has the GOLD ones. If your willing 2 drop the cash, every now and then a set pops up.

I could be wrong but I think it was Ali who said at the beginning of this thread that the front brakes were too powerful and the car would dive. I know he did not change the rears. only if he would update on how he installed the rears. I know you can get the r33 or 34 Brembos but the whole idea is to set up a good cheap set up. If you can find a set, they are so expensive that it's better to spend little more and get a stoptech or something else.

So expensive? You can find a evo/sti front and rear Brembo setup for $600 or less usually. Stoptech you are looking at almost $2000 for ONLY fronts.

Read carefully! I am talking about the the R33 and R34 Brembo, NOT Evo!

P.S. Let me know if you could find a get of STI Brembo under 800

As I stated above, I already have a front and rear set of EVO Brembo, and looks like I am going to unload these. Too much work. This is what I think it will run me to upgrade.

500 for Evo Set
150-200 front brackets
200 to re-powder coat
200-400 rotors (depending on what u want)
100 Brake line
150-200 for Z32 parking brake set up
80-100 for parking brake cable
100 Z32 MC

total 1500, give or take couple hundred

Have you had a full 3Z setup with good pads, fluid, rotors, and tires?

If you haven't already tried that and found it to be inadequate, trying to find a "Better" setup is just stupid.

your price list above didn't include new pads

I understand it adds up, however for stoptechs as you referenced you are talking $1900 for front brake setup. As well as a Z32 BMC, some form of a rear brake setup (not cheap), parking brake cable, and other parts you may need or want to compliment your setup.

Even with your Evo setup you are still at least $1000 cheaper.

I had R34 Brembos on my s14 and they were nowhere near as cheap as my current Evo setup for the calipers themselves, but after brackets they were close. I picked up R34 fronts for $450. My Evo fronts I picked up for $200 and had rotors leftover from my old evo. Then bought brackets, ect.

No matter what, a brake setup should not be "cheap", however if you have read through this thread you will noticed that the evo/sti setup is effective and reasonable in price if you wait out for the right deals.
